Einstein: His Life and Universe: by Walter Isaacson

Image
After buying Einstein: His Life and Universe by Walter Isaacson  in 2013 I started reading it in 2016. That’s a long gap! Just like “The imitation Game by Andrew Hodges” it’s a fantastic book.   While reading I revisited lots of topics from my high-school like entropy, Avogadro number, Quantum physics, nuclear fission/fusion to name a few and off- course love! So I will start about the things I realized reading 550 pages blue paperback:- I have Sky-Blue color Paperback! Everyone struggles Being the synonym of excellence Einstein struggled a lot in his initial days. From the inception he was the " Square peg in a round hole”. Often misunderstood by lot of people even after doing fantastic job in research he worked as a clerk in Swiss patent office. He was not very happy as he knew he was overqualified for the job and kept doing it for some time to pay his bills. He struggled to explain “theory of relativity” to lot of people and critics took it as a fluke f...

Khaleesi teaches Management, Game of thrones:-

Image
I must confess that I recently started watching game of thrones, and was blown away by it. As my friend “ American Obama ” puts it “Game of Thrones is competing in league of its own”.   During  five seasons I was impressed by one character Daenerys Targaryen popularly known as “Khaleesi”. Having studied management I was curious on sharing my thoughts on “What Khaleesi teaches us about Management” Personal Branding Khaleesi also known as dragon mother is known across 7 kingdoms for owning Dragons. Dragons are the most powerful weapons in the entire series though no one has seen them in action for long time.Dragons are her core competency, no one else owns them.  Khaleesi positions herself as a compassionate yet stern leader who does not entertain cock and bull story.   She brings and end to slavery in Slaver's Bay commands, respect command of Dothrak and leads the dragon too. The way Khaleesi emerges from a timid girl who is married to “Khal Dr...

2015: A look back

I usually don’t ponder over past but 2015 was special. I made some good friends, went to some new places and felt emotions which I never felt before. So I will start with my experience in 2015.  Joy and Sorrow at the Land of Martyrs !! I started the year on a high note. I was working for a very prestigious organization at a very senior level. It paid me handsomely, gave me a good social stature and exposed me to a wide array of responsibilities. I had an extremely close view of how judiciary works in India and what it takes to keep the system ticking. I was happy at the growth I was making, the new people I met and exposure I took. Then on one fine day due to unfortunate circumstances I was forced to leave that position very blatantly and I was humiliated. It was not the end of the world though but I was not expecting to be jolted so quickly. It shattered the comfort zone I was slowly surrounding myself with and once again the hustle started.    Va...

My cycling Timeline (From Birth – Till date)

Wrote this for Decathlon contest however it didn't getting shortlisted. So I thought I should spread the awesomeness on my blog.  My parents bought me cycle at a young age of  5. For long duration it was just used as an additional showpiece in our garage engulfed with dust.  Art of balancing of balancing two wheels was a herculean task for me. I felt jealous when I saw other kids enjoying their ride and I wasn’t one of them. Finally I learned the act when I was around 8 years it was center of all my activities. I used to bring my cousins from their schools, bring some sweets from market in sector 19, Chandigarh or purchase some crackers from the nearby shop. It was my very own set of 2 wheels and I rode like a boss! I used to go to school which was in sector 29 around 3 km from my house and it took us around 20 minutes to reach there. Be it the crazy heat of June or maddening winters of December I always enjoyed the journey.  When I was 10 ...

5 reasons you should start reading books

I like reading books and use them as pillow when I am asleep though I do it only sometimes , just sometimes. I started reading at a young age of may be 4. My father was posted in Delhi and I had all the comics of Chacha Chodhree, Pinki, Billi . I even remembered them from heart and this was before I joined elementary school. Unlike other children I learned reading Hindi at very fast pace though reading English was not my cup of tea. I often used to study entire Hindi story books prior to starting of new session. Anyways we will discuss this later, and will try to pen down 5 reasons why I read books, though I can write 500 (wink, wink):- 1. Teleports you to a different world: Reading usually teleports you to a different world. In the chaos of our day to day routine it gives your mind peace.  Once you are in the zone, flipping favorite pages of your book, it’s a mental orgasm. New neurons are created in your brain and you feel refreshed. Believe me hangover from bottle VAT 69 is t...

So let’s continue from where we left . Brotherhood of  Warriors: Behind Enemy Lines with a Commando in One of the World's Most Elite Counterterrorism Units “Happiness is attained, not through self-interest, but through unconditional fidelity in endless love of eternal light.” This book is one of the hidden gems. My respect for Israel multiplied when I read this book. Brutally honest it takes you to the journey of “black-ops”, coveted Mosad and most important the camaraderie and brotherhood that exists between author and his buddies.  I liked the determination of Aaron to join IDF and make his way among the best of the warriors. Moving from BeverleyHills to Israel is never easy.  You watch “Haider “  and learn the word Chutzpah but it was initially used in  this book. I loved it for Krav-Maga, leadership ,  human intelligence, history of counter-terror warfare and the honest way in which Aaron writes his story. Won’t spill the beans further...
